LT Shannon Thompson, USN

Shannon recently left on a 6 month deployment on the USS Ronald Reagan to the Persian Gulf. She is part of the Prowler squadron. The Carrier's website is http://www.reagan.navy.mil/

We also send our best to Brett, Shannon's husband. While he's staying busy with the Coast Guard in Seattle, I'm sure he can't wait for the 6 months to be up and have Shannon back home.

Relocating Couples

Several of our friends have recently announced that they have accepted positions that entail relocating.

Doug and Karen Grochowski will be moving to Phoenix, Arizona from Maryland next month or as soon as the logistics allow. We wish them well and hope to stay in touch through cyberspace.

BJ and Andria will be moving back to the PA/NJ area after a tour in Syracuse, NY. If that wasn't stressful enough, they're in the process of planning their wedding. It will be good to have them closer and in a warmer area of the U.S.

Baby Room Decor

Many have asked about the room decor for baby Katherine. We have decided on a theme of dragonflies, ladybugs, and frogs. There is actually a design called Jitterbug that we will start with. A link to a website for the design is below. A picture would be difficult to see. We're choosing select items from the collection. We are not intending on decorating with every single item available in the collection. We thought this theme was whimsical and not too girly. The "Princess" theme carried at BabiesRUs seemed a little much. We figured that the room will eventually be a mish-mosh of stuffed animals, toys, etc. so a definite theme would probably get lost.

We have also started our baby registry which can be accessed through the BabiesRUs or Amazon websites.

NY Webers

The NY Webers (Rich, Sarah, and Justin) are also expecting a new addition to their family. Their bundle of joy should be arriving around the end of February. Unlike us, they prefer to be suprised with the gender at the time of delivery. We are very excited to have a new niece or nephew and look forward to the happy day. We also know that Justin will be a great big brother!

18 Week Ultrasound

We had our 18 week ultrasound last Thursday (January 5, 2006). During this ultrasound they measure just about every body part of the baby to check the development, look at all four chambers of the heart, check for spina bifida and a myriad of other things. Everything looks great! Our baby has ten fingers and ten toes and seems to be developing just fine. The estimate that the baby weighs about 9 ounces at this point which is right on track.

We also found out the gender. We're having a girl!!! Her name will be Katherine Carol Weber and we are very excited. The Ultrasound tech said she was very confident and showed us how she determined the gender. There was an absence of a certain male organ and three lines that will eventually be a female body part. If you want more details, give us a call and we'll explain. We're trying to keep this rated G.

We scanned a cute profile shot of Katherine although the quality isn't great. This method of getting it on the web proved the best.
