Multi Vitamins

Don't you hate it when the multi vitamin feels like it's stuck at the bottom of your throat? Ugghh!

Why can't they make gummy adult vitamins like they do for kids?

The Last Lecture

I don't know if you have heard, but Carnegie Mellon University professor, Randy Pausch died early this morning. A link to his "Last Lecture" is below. It's worth the hour and 16 minutes.

Mousse-take

I treated myself to lunch today. There is a Whole Foods Market down the road from the office. They have a wide range of delicious prepared foods.

I won't bore you with the rest of my menu choices, but I spotted several flavors of pudding-type dessert cups that piqued my interest. I settled on the Vegan Chocolate Mousse. I normally wouldn't opt for vegan anything, but I didn't see any other chocolate desserts close by. You would also think that I would have checked out the ingredients. Nope! It's chocolate, how bad can it be, right? BAD! Who in their right mind puts tofu in something, adds some chocolate, and calls it mousse?! Seriously, I should have kept the label with the ingredients listed so I could tell you everything that was in it. It was so bad that I couldn't finish it...when it comes to chocolate, that's bad.

All I know, is that there is something to be said for cream (I'll settle for skim milk) and eggs!

Independence Day

We celebrated Independence Day on July 5th with a parade and fireworks. It was a long day, but a lot of fun!

Talk about a parade! The parade in Havre de Grace was 2 hours long! A flyover by some helicopters from the Proving Ground started things off. Katherine was so excited. There were firetrucks and ambulances from all over, bands from the area as well as out of state, veterans groups, active military personnel, politicians, clowns, floats, and custom cars. While there weren't nearly enough, Katherine's favorite part seemed to be the horses. We found it amusing that the local septic service company followed the horses in the parade!

We were all very hot and sweaty by the time the parade was over. As soon as we got home, Katherine stripped off her dress and sandals. I think she had the right idea!

After a nap and leisurely dinner, we made our way to Mt. Erin Cemetery which is up the hill from our neighborhood. We had been told that it was a great place to watch the fireworks. And it was! There were about 40 families that joined us in a field next to the cemetery. Picnic blankets and camping chairs made perfect seating. The kids caught fireflies until it was time for the fireworks to start. Meanwhile, we could see fireworks from other towns and also some illegal ones, I'm sure. When the fireworks started, we had a perfect view from the top of the hill. The "booms" were muffled and delayed a bit which helped make it enjoyable for the kids. When they were over, there was no traffic or crowds to deal with. It was wonderful! I think this may be our annual fireworks-watching spot.

Summer Fun

Sundresses, picnics, swimming pools, flowers....just some of the great things about summer.

We've been having a grand time enjoying the sunshine and fun the summer brings. Katherine has a very cute wardrobe of sundresses for church and other fun ocassions. She is getting more comfortable in the pool and enjoys splashing everyone that she can. She's also learning how to kick and navigate herself around. We have had a few picnics in the backyard and eat "al fresco" every chance we get. Katherine is also helping Mommy grow some mexican sunflowers and tomatoes.

She is enrolled in the summer reading program at the library and goes to story hour on Fridays. K finished "reading" 25 books this week and got to color her bumblebee for the library wall. It was very exciting!

High School Grad

Congratulations Courtney! She's officially a high school graduate and will be attending Rider University in the fall.

Thank you for inviting us to your graduation party. We had a great time! Katherine had so much fun, she was sound asleep within 5 minutes of getting in the car to head home. If this isn't evidence of a great party, I don't know what is.
