Chiropractor

So I went to the chiropractor today. After evaluating me, he said that my left hip is definitely lower than my right hip and that it's also affecting my lower lumbar. See, I'm not nuts! He did some adjusting and wants to see me two times a week for a few weeks. It will take several visits/adjustments for me to really feel a big difference. He did notice that my right ankle is a little crooked. But considering the hardware that's in there, I'll take "a little crooked". The best part of the visit was laying on my stomach on the table. It adjusted enough to allow room for my belly while also keeping me supported. My hip felt great while I was on the table!

30 Weeks

We had our 30-week check-up last night. Everything is looking relatively well. I continue to put on weight (about 20 pounds so far). My routine glucose test came back wonderfully. Katherine's heartbeat continues to be strong, as are her kicks and movements. I have had a considerable amount of pain in my left hip. The Dr. says this is because of the softening of the ligaments, separating of the hips, and extra weight and pressure which are all part of a normal pregnancy. The hip pain has caused the most problem at night when I'm trying to get comfortable to sleep. It always feels like it's out of place and needs to be cracked or popped back in. I've already tried stretches, heat, and an occasional Advil. Yesterday the Dr. gave me the name of a trusted chiropractor. I have an appt. to see him tomorrow. We'll see if that helps.

The Dr. also measured my uterus from bottom to top as a normal part of the check-up. It's measuring a little small (27 cm). He said it should be about 30 cm, corresponding with our pregnancy weeks. It's nothing serious, just something that we're going to keep an eye on. Basically, it comes down to the baby becoming too cramped as she puts on weight in these last two months. But, depending on her size and my size, it may not be an issue. Worst case scenario: we deliver a little early. Our check-ups are now every two weeks as we come down the home stretch.

We've had an uneventful pregnancy, thus far. If this is the worst of it, I'll take it.

Spring Fever!

I am SO ready for Spring weather! We had some warm days a few weeks ago, but they were just teases. I'm ready to have the windows open, smell the fresh air, and go on walks to the park. We also have an ice cream shop within walking distance. It will be nice to walk there after dinner on warm evenings.

Mason is also excited for Spring. She relishes the afternoon sunshine (see picture below). She's also looking forward to the windows being open too. But I think it's because of the doves who have made a nest in the tree outside the family room window. I think she wants to eat them. Too bad she's a scaredy cat that is afraid to go outside. Those doves have nothing to worry about.

28 Weeks

The latest belly shot is below. There are also some updated pictures of the nursery. We finally hung the valences and a couple of pictures that were given to us as gifts. Most of the books, the stereo, the child's rocking chair, the carpet and several of the decorations were ours from when we were children or were reassigned to the nursery. It's nice to know that the nursery is done, especially as it becomes more difficult for me to exert myself. Sorry about the quality of the pictures, they were taken last night.

Also, many people have asked us about a registry. We are registered at Babies R Us. Even though the nursery is finished, there are plenty of things that we still need.

Long Island Visit

Rob and I traveled to Long Island this past weekend to visit Rich, Sarah, Justin, and Brenna. It was a very enjoyable trip. Justin gets bigger every time we see him and is always a ball of energy. Brenna is an adorable little peanut that really enjoys sleeping. Enjoy it while you can, Rich and Sarah! We didn't take as many pictures as planned, but there are several on the picture section of the website.

Bassinet

Friends of our family have lent us a very special bassinet. It was purchased in Germany for their first child and has been used by many children throughout the years. As tradition, every child's name was written on the mattress support with their birth date. Katherine will be the 27th child to use this bassinet. The bedding was sewed by Ms. Mary Ann and features lambs, butterflies, and bows. Thank you to the entire Magee family for allowing us to be a part of this tradition.
